I feel a little sheepish about the locations I chose for portraits of the author of the novel The Time Traveler’s Wife, Audrey Niffenegger. Ragdale (http://www.ragdale.org) is the former summer estate of Howard Van Doren Shaw, a prominent architect active during the Arts and Crafts period at the turn of the last century. It’s one beautiful place – now an artists’ retreat – in Lake Forest, Illinois. Here’s David Ettinger, assistant extraordinaire, on departure:
